United States—In a statement today, U.S. President Joe Biden’s re-election campaign team announced they netted over USD 187 million from January to March in the first quarter of 2024, nearly twice the figure for the entire last quarter—the one before, as reported by Reuters.
March Fundraising Spree Propels Campaign Momentum
In March, Biden’s campaign accomplished the Democratic Party’s nomination, garnering more than USD 90 million, which was far more than the over USD 53 million it had raised the previous month. The team further reported USD 192 million in cash reserves, the highest so far for any Democratic candidate, a record figure for the current stage of the elections.
Biden’s election campaign has generated far more fundraising dollars than that of his Republican foe, Donald Trump, before November’s showdown. These results can be summarized as a chain of the president’s incumbent status and support from Democrats who served as Presidents.
During the bulk in March, before Democratic Presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton stepped to the stage in an eventful New York City fundraiser that gathered more than USD 25 million.
According to the campaign, all the money announced on Saturday came from all fundraising channels. In the past, the sources of funds for these funds included Biden’s campaign, the DNC, and joint fundraising committees.
Diverse Donor Base
During the first quarter the percentage of donations under USD 200 was 96% with over one million donors and 1.9 million contributions were made, the campaign said.
It said the campaign had over 212,000 sustaining donors, more than double the number that Biden had had at this time in the 2020 race when Biden also outraised Trump.
Strategic Media Campaign
The campaign has already started on a USD 30 million and six-week-long paid media campaign aimed at battleground states, including the Latino, African-American, and Asian American Pacific Islander voters, and the voters of Nikki Haley, who ended her bid for Republican nomination in early March, as reported by Reuters.
Biden went to every battleground state in under 20 days, and the campaign body conducted the 69 campaign activities in March that the campaign said.
