United States – Only hours after his biggest fundraiser, which included his Democratic precursor, Former President Barack Obama, and Bill Clinton, as guest speakers, President Joe Biden said on Friday that the event showed that no one could gather Democrats like Republicans.
Historic Fundraiser Draws Democratic Heavyweights
The funds collected from these attendees amounted to a record 26 million, which the Biden campaign announced it took from the sold-out event at Radio City Music Hall. The event also featured a late-night host, Stephen Colbert, as a moderator for the presidential trio. Biden spent the night in New York and addressed over 200 of his largest fundraisers and donors living in the city, as reported by The Associated Press.
“It’s because of you that I can say that we’ve raised more money than previous Democratic campaign in history,” said Biden with his reelection effort entering the year with 155 million in cash already on hand through the last days of last month.
“A couple of us have been doing this for a year or two. I don’t ever remember an event like last night,” Biden said of himself and the past presidents. He added wistfully, “I’m the president but was looking out there, holy God.”
Biden pronounced that “last night showed the skeptics, it showed the press, it showed everyone that we are united.” It has been aimed at portraying a sharp contrast with former President Donald Trump, who is currently seeking a second chance in power but has been shunned and condemned by his only living Republican predecessor, President George W. Bush.
To sum up where, even Mike Pence, the VP under Trump, admits that he will not support his former leader. On the other hand, since then, Trump and his Save America political action committee have only managed to lay their hands on less than half of this cash, 37 million, until February.
Yet, Thursday night, there was also the disunion when the event was stopped by protesters who objected to the Biden administration policy during the Israel’s war against Hamas in Gaza. A larger number of demonstrators who had common features of appearance gathered outside the building.
Trump has received support for some early primary and caucus polls in the swing states, and Biden agreed to this in his speech at the fundraisers on Friday. The president then said that he would see improvement in his support in key areas in the weeks following his State of Union and mentioned that he had visited all the major battleground states in the past few weeks, saluting “our grassroots organization.”
Biden’s Vision for the Future

Biden, too, tried to grab from Trump and other top Republicans who often probed whether the country was in better form than four years ago, when the coronavirus disease was still in the initial phase and large numbers of countries were closing their economies.
“Well, Donald, I’m glad you asked the question,” Biden said, noting that his administration had helped tame the pandemic while keeping the economy strong and unemployment low, as reported by The Associated Press.
“I have a different focus,” Biden said, noting a new question he wants voters to ponder, “Will we be better off four years from now?”
